Parallel and Perpendicular Lines

Parallel Lines

To find a line that is parallel to another line all you have to do is change the y intercept as the slope must stay the same.

Example

A line that is parallel to y = 5x + 3 is y = 5x + 5

Perpendicular Lines

To find a line that is perpendicular to another line the formula is:

M-perpendicular = -(1/m)

Example

A line that is perpendicular to y = ¾ is y = -4/3
