Ionic Compounds

Covalent Compounds

Polyatomic Ions

Acid Salts

Salts whose anions contain one or more covalently bonded hydrogen atom.

i.e. NaHSO4 à Sodium Hydrogen Sulfate

Acids – Naming

Any acid with Hydrogen and one other element start with “Hydro” and end with the name of the second element with the “ic” ending.

i.e. HCl (aq) = Hydrochloric Acid , however if the “(aq)” isn’t present to represent that it is dissolved in water, then it would be “Hydrogen Chloride”
